Reflections on My 2500 Mile Cycling Journey

Many people have asked about my most memorable moments from my Atlantic coast cycling tour. It is surprising how easily the days run together and how hard it is, in retrospect, to distinguish one day from another. But now that the journey is finished, I can reflect on the major patterns that I experienced and what makes the journey so memorable.

Over the next few posts, I’ll talk about some of those reflections. This post is about the beauty I experienced. Up next, read about the “Biking Bubble.”

The End of My Atlantic Coast Cycling Journey

Within a week, I will finish my 2,500 Atlantic Coast Cycling tour and Cycling for Good. Over the next week, in lieu of my “regular” schedule, I’ll remind you of the people who inspired my ride – both before and during my adventure. We heard that North Carolina would be different. But, in North Carolina, we would face tropical depression Ana. Learn about whether North Carolina delivered on its promise and what it was like to ride in a tropical depression.

Cycling S. Carolina – Why Treat Us This Way?

After Georgia, our next state of cycling was South Carolina. We started on a great note – an off day! And Bob and Sadie drove down to spend the off day with me and have dinner with friends in Beaufort! In a state with Hilton Head, Beaufort and Charleston, what was not to like? We would soon see.

Cycling For Good

I have a lot to gain from cycling the Atlantic Coast. I’ll get more fit. Have a challenge and the adventure of a lifetime. See the country on bike time. Meet great people.  But I want to do more.

I want to take this opportunity to raise awareness and funds for some charities that mean a lot to people who have made life better for me and others around them.

Each week, I’ll ride in honor of someone who has inspired me. I’ll introduce you to them and tell you about a charity that is their cause. And you’ll have a chance to make a difference.
